There are plenty of great movies to watching while drinking, whether you like watching a comedy or a Disney movie (some people like the singing, don’t look at me like that) while getting plowed. There is something to appreciate about every kind of movie you may like. Sci-Fi and actions can be fun to watch to make colors pop, Musicals and Disney movies good to sing along to, and comedies, well….duh.

These movies are all good to watch drunk, and all involve booze (and in some, other forms of substance abuse).

5) Bad Santa – Not every drunk is a good drunk. Some are foul-mouthed, pissing your pants, vomiting, passing out onto of your girlfriend drunks. Billy Bob Thorton’s character does it all. He drinks his way into oblivion. Not only giving you an appreciation for the life of a drunk – whether it’s loving him or NEVER wanting to be him – but also letting the teetotaler’s get a look at how to let go, completely and utterly. For better or worse.

Quote: Willie – “You can’t drink worth shit.”

Marcus – “I weight 92 pounds, you dick!”

4) Old School – Old School was to my generation what Animal House was 30 years ago (except a little more watered down…least it has Will Ferrell). It has it’s mediocre leads (Luke Wilson) but has powerful extras to back him up (Vince Vaughn & Ferrell). It also has drinking galore, not to mention some of the most quotable parts of any movie (“It feels so good once it hits your lips”). Booze, boobs, and brunettes (sorry, don’t care so much for blondes).

Quote: Frank – “Your my boy Blue, your my boy!”

3) Grandma’s Boy – While a little more weed heavy than booze driven, the movie is still a masterpiece. Particularly the party scene. I still quote this movie, and probably always will. All the actors who make regular cameos in Sandler’s movies make appearances and show their real talent. They can survive behind the god of Lil Nicky and Happy Gilmore…but can do just as well in front of him (surprisingly he doesn’t make an appearance in the film).

Quote: Jeff – “I can’t believe you came on my mom!”

2) Animal House – A treasure film from ‘78. Booze driven and beautiful. One of the important aspects of the movie is that John Belushi is one of the semi-main characters, giving his (to me) most memorable performance. Not only is it his most memorable performance, but he plays Bluto, one of the most memorable drunks of the 20th century.

Quote: Bluto – “My advice to you…is to start drinking heavily.”

1) Beerfest – If there was an old man sitting on top of beer mountain waiting to tell you all the secrets to getting drunk…but got too drunk and left you a video tape with the secrets instead…it would be this movie. Not only is it ALL about drinking (and drinking games for that matter) but it is hilarious even to people who aren’t drinkers. Even better than Super Troopers, Broken Lizard outdid themselves with this gem.

Quote: Barry – “I wish it were winter, so we could freeze it into blocks and skate on it, then melt it in the spring and drink it!”

Any arguments? Leave a comment, I’d be happy to debate it.

Quid pro quo – Beers I’ve had warm (not room temp, but warm to the touch) – Busch Light, Labatt Blue, Bud Light, Beast Ice. Of these, the one I wish I could cool down the most was the Beast Ice. That stuff will put hair on your chest.

There are three different kinds of drunk depending on what you are drinking. Every good drunk knows this, but maybe some newbie thinks getting jacked up on Jack will bring him the same feelings and pleasures as pounding a 12 of Busch Lite. Likewise, if Jackie New-drinker thinks he is going to have the same experience drinking wine he is sadly mistaken.

The 3 Brands of Drunk

Beer – The most definable kind of ‘drunk.’ When people talk about getting drunk people usually think of the person drinking beer (this is different than people talking about getting hammered which – usually – involves liquor being the culprit). A good happy feeling. Stress slightly dissipates and day to day problems lie by the wayside, tho often still at the edge of our mind. You slur, you stumble, but you can still think clearly enough to get out an idea or sentence that mostly makes sense. Your friends and you continue to play beer pong and cards until one-by-one you pass out from the alcohol.

Wine – Dionysus must have been a happy god…how else could wine have such a different feeling then beer? It’s a happy – but it’s a giddy happy. The kind that doesn’t just push your worries away, but makes you utterly forget about them. It doesn’t matter if you are with a group of people (we can pretend they’re your friends if you wish) or by yourself, enjoying a few bottles while watching ‘The Producers’ or ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ That’s another thing – wine makes colors pop. Cartoons, Disney movies pop so much more if you have a few glasses of wine. Even sitcoms and movies are more interesting, your eye catching every detail.

Liquor – (This excludes Jagermeister because all bets are always off with the Devil’s juice) Liquor is like a mix of beer and wine – on steroids. Angry, angry things can happen with liquor. Liquor causes the stumbles, the slurring and it CAN cause the giddiness. But the giddiness can easily turn to anger. Liquor can be a emotional roller coaster causing screaming, tears, smiles, yelling, tears, grins and repeats.

Of course this all depends on the person – not everyone handles liquor or wine or beer the same, just like the amount matters as well. And like I said, don’t count Jagermeister as just a normal liquor because it’s brewed in the deepest bowels of Hell with the blood of hell hounds and demon parts.

Drinking Carlo Rossi Blush

(Don’t judge, free booze is the best booze)
